During this free call, we’ll gather some general information about you, your needs, and your desired backyard home. We’ll also answer your most pressing concerns and tell you about us and how we work.
Together, you and your backyard home consultant will discuss your goals and examine the conditions in your backyard. The walk-through helps us discover its ADU potential. It also lays the groundwork for designing and planning your project. Contact us to find out about our Covid-19 measures.
Building a backyard home is a big decision. Through the feasibility study, we show you three options with different locations, sizes and floor plans that you can legally build on your lot, within your budget. This gives you an opportunity to get to know and work with us before deciding to hire us to complete your project.
Once you’ve decided on one of the options presented during the feasibility study, we’ll work together to get your floor plan just how you want it.
This is where you see your backyard home start coming to life. We’ll review 3D models and perspectives to confirm that what you’ve asked us for is what you really want so your design progresses according to your intent. We will also re-confirm project scope and budget to minimize the possibility of overages during the construction phase.
Construction documents are the set of drawings specifying every detail of your design that are submitted to the governing authority for approval. Once approved, we use these same documents to build your project.
We will work with the city agency to get your project approved and permit-ready so we can proceed with construction of your backyard home.
OVERSIGHT & UPDATES
Throughout construction, we will continue to keep you informed of the progress of your backyard home, while monitoring costs and scheduling.
Your backyard home will be inspected by the city throughout construction to ensure it’s built according to the approved plans and that it meets all health and safety regulations. We facilitate inspections.
We check off a to-do list of tasks and items that must be fixed or completed before your backyard home can be considered finished. Then we do a thorough cleaning so it’s move-in ready.
Keys + Landlord resources
We’ll hand over the keys upon delivery and provide you with landlord resources we’ve compiled. When you secure your first tenant, you can inspect and document the condition of every area of your backyard home with the tenant using our move-in checklist.
